Sedation Options
The overwhelming fear of dental appointments can be a common cause of anxiety. The staff at Cameron Dental Westpark will do whatever they can to reduce anxiety, allay fears, and provide painless, quick treatments!
To help you if you suffer from dental anxiety, we offer two types of sedation during treatment:
1. Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) - We use laughing gas for both adults and children. It entails wearing a small mask over your nose to breathe in oxygen and nitrous oxide throughout the entire appointment. The laughing gas mades you feel relaxed and helps to alleviate some of the stress induced by dental procedures. Once the treatment is completed, the patient is flushed out with pure oxygen and can resume their normal activities that day. We find that nitrous oxide is very helping for children during their first fillings or extraction appointments to make them feel as comfortable as possible!
2. Triazolam - This is an oral sedative similar to Ativan. Used only for adults, the patient comes to the office an hour prior to their schedule treatment time and takes the medication under a dentist's supervision. The patient must have a ride home and needs supervision for the rest of the day.
If you are interested in either sedation method we offer please contact our office.
